TUP Manila, DAWN sign MOA to foster growth and development

The Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Manila and the Development Action for Women Network (DAWN) forged a powerful partnership on June 18, 2024, signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aimed at empowering distressed women migrants returning from Japan and their Japanese-Filipino children. The ceremony was held in the office of TUP President Engr. Reynaldo P. Ramos, PhD, EnP, marks a significant step towards collaborative research, education, and community service efforts.
 

DAWN, established in 1996, has a long-standing commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of women migrants and their children. This partnership with TUP Manila will leverage the university's academic and technological expertise to create impactful programs and initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by this community.

Key areas of collaboration under the MOA include:

  • Research: Joint studies will be conducted to understand better the needs and experiences of women migrants and their children, informing evidence-based policies and interventions.
  • Education: Developing educational programs and workshops to empower women migrants with skills and knowledge to enhance their livelihoods and well-being.
  • Community Outreach: Creating community-based support networks and services to provide holistic assistance to women migrants and their families.
