iCHED, TUP forge partnership to fuel research and innovation in Higher Education

The Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) welcomed a delegation from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Office of Planning, Research, and Knowledge Management (OPKRM), in a key move to strengthen research and innovation in Philippine higher education, held on June 11, 2024.

The visit, led by Ms. Mayumi Belandres, Division Chief, and Ms. Coleen Moog, RMD staff, fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas and collaborative opportunities. CHED representatives highlighted key funding programs, such as the Grants-in-Aid (GIA) for Research and Extension and Institutional Development and Innovation Grants (IDIG) for equipment procurement. These programs aim to empower universities and colleges nationwide to pursue groundbreaking research and development initiatives.

During the visit, CHED provided valuable insights into TUP's existing research agenda and manual, offering guidance on maximizing research impact and aligning with national priorities. The discussions also explored potential collaborations on SUC journals and support for crafting competitive research grant proposals.

This partnership between TUP and CHED signifies a shared commitment to elevating research capabilities and driving innovation in the higher education landscape. TUP is poised to leverage CHED's expertise and resources to enhance its research infrastructure, expand its research portfolio, and contribute to advancing knowledge and technology in the Philippines.

TUP and CHED look forward to a fruitful and ongoing partnership that will unlock new possibilities for research and innovation, ultimately benefiting students, faculty, and the broader community.
