APPRECIATE 2024: TUP-Manila Celebrates Innovation and Excellence

Technological University of the Philippines - Manila's College of Engineering recently hosted the much-anticipated APPRECIATE 2024 event on May 30-31, 2024. This annual gathering serves as a platform for graduating students to showcase their innovative research projects across various engineering disciplines.
 

The event kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony at the IRTC Hall, attended by the University's officials, including TUP President Engr. Reynaldo P. Ramos, Ph.D., ENP, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ryan C. Reyes, University Extension Services (UES) Director Engr. Benedicto N. Fortaleza, Integrated Research and Training Center (IRTC) Director Engr. Nilo M. Arago, Office of Student Affairs Dean Dr. Margaret S. Aquino, College of Engineering Dean Engr. Lean Karlo S. Tolentino, PECE, PhD., Civil Engineering Department Head Engr. Teodinis P. Garcia, Electronics Engineering Department Head Engr. Cherry G. Pascion, and Mechanical Engineering Department Head Engr. Sandra A. Hollman.
 

Following the opening ceremony, the official inauguration of student exhibits took place at the TUP Grounds and TUP Court. These exhibits featured cutting-edge projects developed by students from the departments of Civil, Electronics, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, highlighting their ingenuity and practical application of engineering principles.

A highlight of Day 1 was the engaging plenary session at the IRTC Hall, featuring distinguished guest speakers from industry and academia. Engr. Shamarah Marie Ingente, an esteemed startup founder specializing in Web3 & AI, shared insights alongside Engr. Ralph Michael Leal, a part-time instructor at PUP - Taguig, and Engr. Maria Concepcion Zabala, an Intellectual Property Rights Specialist III. Their talks inspired attendees with discussions on emerging technologies and intellectual property considerations in engineering innovations.

Simultaneously, parallel sessions in COE Rooms delved deep into diverse research topics, while the Top 21 Business Pitching competition unfolded at the lively TUP Grounds. This dynamic format ensured a multifaceted experience for participants and attendees alike.

Day 2 of APPRECIATE 2024 continued with the Top 21 Presentations at the IRTC Hall, where students presented their research findings and project outcomes. The presentations underscored the students' dedication to solving real-world challenges and advancing engineering knowledge.

The event concluded with an Awarding Ceremony recognizing outstanding achievements across several categories:

  • Best Presenter 3rd Place: Lord Jon Ivan Rodriguez from Bamboogsh
  • Best Booth Award: COCOUSTIC 2.0

Each award celebrated innovation, creativity, and technical expertise, reinforcing TUP-Manila's commitment to nurturing future engineering leaders.
